A Few Of My Favorite Things
Flower sunglasses that were given to me from a dear friend I met on a 2 month long summer missions trip in Wildwood, NJ. She lives in California and it has been a year and a half since I have seen her, but these sunglasses are a constant reminder of her and her bright and joyous presence in my life despite the distance.
Colored pencils that were given to me as a gift for Christmas this year by my best friend of almost 21 years. I have yet to use them, but the bright polka dot design of them inspire me to create something fun and exciting.
My Bible is opened up to my favorite passage of Scripture that I live by - Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for hope and a future." I actually got a tattoo 2 years ago with the first line of this passage: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord." My faith is everything to me and I hold tight to this verse when I start to become anxious of the future and try to rush plans that I have for myself.
Handwritten note from some of my closest friends here at Flagler. This note was written to me from 4 of my friends at a time when I was going through a really hard break-up and I keep this note tucked away in my Bible and refer back to it when I need some encouragement and love to get me through a rough time or situation.
Headphones that help me to drown out the rest of the world and to find peace within myself in that moment whether it be a time of reflection, a pick-me-up, or just background noise to studying.
Pink scarf that used to be my mom's, but I reclaimed it from her closet and fell in love with it since the day I've had it. It makes me feel close to my mom even though I am 12 hours away from home here at school. It always brightens up an outfit and is the softest cashmere which makes it extra cozy and comforting to wear.
Sand from the beach that I love to sink my toes in and bury my feet in. I love going to the beach mostly by myself to get away and reflect, journal, listen to music..just a time to myself away from chaos and stress and anxiety. I always walk away from my time at the beach feeling so much more at peace and rejuvenated.
